A less expensive version of Bajaj Auto’s famous electric bike, the Chetak, will be released on December 20, 2024. This new model is likely to cost less than the current ones, which will make electric transportation easier for more people to get.
The scooter in question has been seen before, and Bajaj has taken some pretty innovative steps to save money. The new steel wheels and drum brakes on both ends make this clear. The modern Chetak has aluminium wheels and front disc brakes.
Also, there isn’t a glove box behind the front bench that can be locked. There are two open storage spaces instead, and they look deep enough to fit a phone and other small things like a wallet. On the more expensive Chetaks, there is also a real starting key instead of a keyless system.
The cheap Bajaj Chetak will also get a black-and-white LCD screen instead of the fancy TFT screen. Specifications for the battery and motor have not been made public yet. Having said that, the scooter might have a range of 90–100 km and a top speed of 60–70 km/h.
By making the Chetak less expensive, Bajaj hopes to improve its position in the growing market for electric bikes and get more people to buy from them.
